A STORY OF REDEMPTION: CHARLES "BOSTON" RODGERS

I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO WATCH "SERVING LIFE" ON THE OPRAH WINFREY NETWORK. WHICH IS A DOCUMENTARY ABOUT THE REDEMPTION OF INMATES.
THE STORY THAT CAUGHT MY ATTENTION WAS THAT OF CHARLES "BOSTON" RODGERS. WHO WAS SENTENCED TO 35 YEARS IN PRISON AFTER A ROBBERY HE COMMITTED AT 17 YEARS OLD.

Because his story touched my heart. I decided to  look more into his case. My findings were that nobody got hurt during the robbery, there is a written confession from one of his co-defendants at the police department claiming that he was the actual gunmen not Charles "Boston" Rodgers but the confession was not taken into consideration. Charles went to trial to plead his case in court. The 3 other co-defendants took a plea deal and got off with 3 years served or probation. Charles admitted his role in the robbery and was sentence to 35 years. I do not condone any of this behavior but I do feel 35 years is too much for a 17 year old. An organization has been established to help On-behalf Charles Rodgers and others like him who are serving harsh sentences in Louisiana. Charles is now 31 years old and looking for a chance at redemption. He is now fighting in the courts to have his sentenced reduced.

  1. I just watched this documentary on Netflix, and like you guys story touched me. I do hope and pray the best for this man who has been too harshly sentenced as so many others have too. Bless you, and Charles.
